I use this drill every day to begin practice and as part of a warm-up that leads into practice. After my athletes complete stretching and form shooting, they do one of my favorite drills, which I call "UCONN" because Geno Auriemma, the women's basketball head coach at UCONN, has his athletes do it every day to start practice. As a coach of seventh- and eighth-grade girls, this drill is so important because they are working on making good passes, leading their teammates with passes, finishing layups, improving poor dribbling, and jump-stopping. By doing this every day, I can see my basketball players get progressively better, making their layups and making good passes, which is a big struggle at the modified level. Therefore, if you coach basketball, I recommend incorporating this drill into your practice plans.
