As a coach of both modified and JV girls, I have one rule for all my athletes: show up 20 minutes early for practice. Therefore, if practice starts at 3:00pm, they should be in the gymnasium or on the fields by 2:40pm. Arriving twenty minutes early to practice allows athletes to get ready, put on their shoes, stretch, warm up, or throw before practice begins. I enjoy doing this, and my athletes do too, because it gives them more time on task during practice, allowing us to focus on what we need to improve rather than spend valuable practice time stretching and warming up.
